Changhe straw hat industry began in the 50th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, to the thirties of the last century. As the straw hats are mostly exported to Europe, America, Southeast Asian countries, the proverb goes: "no idle women in ten miles of long street, the families are all hat weavers". and the most prestigious of this is the "golden silk straw hat". The golden straw hat at the exit of the Yangtze River is prevalent in the Western upper social communication field, and the Changhe is also known as the "land of straw".

In 2008, Changhe Town's straw hat weaving skills project was included in the representative list of Ningbo Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Changhe has also held a straw hat weaving competition for 14 consecutive years. At present, there are more than 40 straw hat enterprises in Changhe, and most of the straw hat weaving is mainly machines, with an annual output value of nearly 200 million yuan.
