Yu Qiuyu, born in 1946 in Yuyao County, Zhejiang Province, graduated from the Department of Drama Literature of Shanghai Theatre Academy. He has successively served as president and professor of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and vice-chairman of Shanghai Dramatists Association. He has started publishing works in 1962. He published multiple historical treatises both domestically and internationally, and has been awarded such honorary titles as “national outstanding contribution expert” and “Top 10 Higher Education Elites in Shanghai”. In recent years, in addition to teaching and academic research, he published the collection of essays titled “Cultural Journey”, which won the “outstanding achievement award of Shanghai Literature and Art”, the “Best Book Award for Reading in United Daily News of Taiwan”, and the first prize of Published Works in Shanghai. “History of Drama Theory”, Yu Qiuyu’s work on art theory, won the first national award for drama theory works the next year after its publication, and the first prize for national excellent teaching materials from the Ministry of Culture ten years later. His “Dramatic Aesthetic Psychology” won the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Works Award. He received the 2002 Taiwan Platinum Writer Award for his “Travelers Without Borders”.
