According to the "Ningbo City Chronicle", the Tianfeng Pagoda, which has been regarded as a height symbol of Ningbo for thousands of years, was 42.5 meters high when it was overhauled in 1984 due to serious tilt of the tower, and 51.5 meters high after completion on November 4, 1989.

Recognized as the first modern high-rise building in Ningbo, the 32-meter-high Municipal Post Building at the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Jiangxia Street, was completed in October 1982 after 6 years of constructing.

Benye Building (located in the current Raffles City Plaza), completed in March 1988, with a total height of 63.3 meters;

Building 7 Zhongshan East Road, where the original boutique commercial building is located and is now west of Xinhua Bookstore at Kaiming Jiekou, was built in 1992 and has exceeded 60 meters in height.

In 1995, Ningbo had its first 100-meter-tall building, the 108-meter-high CITIC Ningbo International Hotel.

In the more than 20 years since then, the high-rise buildings that have left a deep impression in the memories of Ningbo people include-

The China Rural Credit Building, completed in 1995, is 139 meters tall and the tallest building in Zhejiang when it was completed;

The Lingjiang Famous Garden, completed in 2004, is 179.2 meters high;

Opened in 2008 and standing by the Liberation Bridge, the Marriott Hotel is 160 meters high;

Completed in 2011 and located in the southern business district, Ningbo Chamber of Commerce and International Trade Center, famous for its lotus roof, is 228 meters high, and is the first high-rise building in Ningbo to exceed 200 meters in height;

Started in 2013 and topped out in 2018, it is located in the core of the old town of Jiangbei, with a height of 240 meters;

The "corn building" Ningbo Fortune Center, completed in 2015, is 188 meters high;

In 2015, Ningbo Global Shipping Plaza in the Eastern New Town was completed, with a height of 256.8 meters, which is the tallest building built in Ningbo so far;

In 2017, the Bank of China Tower, which attracted much attention with its unique twisting shape next to Ningbo Global Shipping Plaza, was completed, with a height of 246 meters;

In September 2019, the 249-meter-high "Ningbo Tower" was completed, becoming the current "tallest building in Sanjiangkou";

The 409-meter Ningbo Central Building, which started construction in December 2018 and was topped out yesterday, will become the new "tallest building in Ningbo" and "the tallest building in Zhejiang" after completion.

The city of Ningbo is constantly growing higher in the sky.
