On April 3, the outlet valve at the Ge’ao Reservoir regulating station in Fenghua District was slowly opened, sending a steady, clear stream of water through newly constructed transmission channels and directly into the city’s municipal supply network.

This milestone marks the official activation of the reservoir's water supply capabilities. As a cornerstone of the province’s recent flood control and drainage initiative, the Ge’ao Reservoir is now equipped to deliver 80,000 cubic meters of raw water to the city each day.

This monumental infrastructure upgrade translates to direct, tangible benefits for local residents. Based on an average daily consumption of 0.6 cubic meters per household, this new influx of raw water will meet the daily needs of 100,000 to 130,000 households. By securing a reliable water source for a permanent population of approximately 300,000, the reservoir will effectively alleviate Ningbo’s municipal water supply pressures and support the city’s continued growth.
