On April 28, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions announced the recipients of the prestigious 2026 National May 1st Labor Awards. Ningbo made a strong showing this year, with two local organizations receiving the National May 1st Labor Award Certificate, 10 individuals earning the National May 1st Labor Medal, and five teams honored with the title of National Worker Pioneer.

Over the past year, Ningbo’s workforce has played a vital role in the city’s economic and social development, achieving extraordinary results in their everyday roles. This year’s honorees span key sectors such as advanced manufacturing, scientific innovation, and enterprise services. Through their dedication and groundbreaking work, these role models embody the drive, craftsmanship, and professionalism of Ningbo’s modern workforce.

“This honor is not just an encouragement, but a driving force for those of us working on the front lines,” said Wang Haizhao, a National May 1st Labor Medal recipient and director of the Ninghai County Enterprise Service Center. “It also entrusts me with a renewed sense of responsibility.”

The Ningbo Customs District Technology Center was among those awarded the National May 1st Labor Award Certificate. Cao Guozhou, the center’s director, noted that this recognition marks a new starting point. “Moving forward, we will continue to focus on the needs of the foreign trade sector, optimize our technical services, and safeguard the nation’s borders with enhanced expertise,” he stated.

Inspired by these award winners, trade unions across Ningbo are doubling down on efforts to promote a culture of dedication and craftsmanship. The city aims to cultivate a highly skilled, innovative industrial workforce ready to drive Ningbo’s continued modernization and economic growth.

Nationwide, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions presented 3,024 honors this year. This includes 379 Certificates, 1,462 Medals, and 1,183 Worker Pioneer titles—which, as of this year, have been officially streamlined under the collective naming convention of the “National May 1st Labor Awards.”
